Sounds to me like you should live with it for awhile. You will know soon enough what you love and what you don't. No need to dive into a big reno before you get to know the house.

If you could post pictures of what it looks like now, with your own furniture, that would be helpful. And like auntthelma said, if there is nothing that you really don't like, it might be worth it to spend some time figuring out what works and what doesn't before you spend money to change things.

I do not like the dark color on the fireplace and hallway walls.

To me white walls are just dull. I wouldn't paint my ceiling in an accent color but I think I would look nice in your house with the big windows. Is there an inspiration picture of that look?
