If greys not doing it for you , how about a golden hue of wheat colour. Richness, warm, not metallic but updated. Paint trim in cream and accent wall either in a darker copper colour or earthy brown to feature a side board or china cabinet if you have one that you wish to show off or large piece of art work.

I'm using these Benjamin Moore Darryl Carter colors now and love them. the deep blue has charcoal and is great next to a clean white. Depth with all these.

I love the current color. You could add a touch of gray in your window treatment. It's such a beautiful room!

It can be hard to find the right mix in a Color. I suspect you want a grey that is less grey and warmer. Example: a color with more yellow and or magenta (red) in it. To give more richness and warmth from the cool blue and white/ black mix's that look so cold and flat.

The wall color should compliment the other items in the room and create a beautiful back drop for your furniture, art, carpet etc. Its hard to tell what you are working with in the room, so very difficult to give an educated answer on the proper color to use,

I could see something like this, or even something bolder (more of a mustard-gold).

How about a much lighter gray--either a bluish or greige?

Is the dining area open to another room? What are the other colors in rooms near?

I like Silhouette best of what is shown but it is too dark for your wainscoting. If you want to avoid repainting the woodwork I think a lighter color would be better. Are you willing to repaint the woodwork? Light colors have a lot of impact too.

Have you tried Ashley gray? It's a gray with green undertones..really beautiful. This is a foyer from my client and it is all in Ashley gray...thought a visual would help.

If you're in the northern hemisphere and your dining room faces north, I am sure that you will not like any gray. We have that and have been lacking time to repaint.

On the other hand, if you are facing south, we have something very similar to Sherwin Williams 7657 Tinsmith. It's a very green gray which looks nice against view of the back woods behind our condo. We also have that same color in our kitchen, where we actually eat and use the north facing gray dining room for TV.

Thank you everyone for the great advice. We are putting more colors up and taking all of the suggestions in mind. I will post a picture once we make a decision.

After weighing all of the color options, we finally decided to go with a lighter color. we used BM abalone and just love it. I am still waiting for my chairs to be delivered but here are some pictures in various lighting of the room so far. Again, thank you for all of your comments and suggestions.
