What it comes down to is that salt water has the potential to damage components of your pool. If you take the required steps to protect your pool you can reduce these risks but not eliminate them completely. Salt water is chlorine. It is critically important that you understand a salt pool is just a different type of chlorine pool. Ozone, is not a chlorine based system and does not do the same thing as salt water. In fact, you could in theory have both salt water and ozone and they would work very nicely together. Sanitizer (like chlorine) is needed to keep you safe in the water.
