If you mean reed canary grass, Phalaris arundinacea, it might be best planted in a container. This is considered an invasive species in many areas and is a very aggressive spreader in a garden setting.

I was given a 50lb bag of canary grass seed, with the thought of planting it outside in a very erodible slope, but it sounds as if that's a bad idea!
