URGENT question: Windows and fireplace spacing

Hi everyone. We are building a home and the family room wall has a fireplace in the middle with two 2' Windows on either side. The framers centered the Windows between the wall and the fireplace OPENING, but I think they need to be centered between the wall and FINISHED fireplace (legs/mantle). Otherwise, when the fireplace surround is in place, the Windows would look too close to the fireplace. Am I thinking right here? Below are two pictures of the wall, as well as the finished fireplace style that we will have there.

Please tell me... Would you (1) keep the Windows centered between the wall and fireplace opening (2) center them between the wall and the fireplace legs or (3) center them between the wall and the mantle (the widest point).

I had to go measure and mark where I want them moves tomorrow, so time is of the essence. Thanks!
