It might be able to stay in the 4 inch pot indefinitely. African violet pots should generally be about 1/3 the size of the overall plant, and they need to be repotted about every 6 months. There's lots of posts on this forum about repotting violets, so have fun!

I'm using Miracle-Grow Potting Mix, and the info on the bag says that the fertilizer contained will last up-to six months. I believe this is the norm.

Leon - I do not believe everything that is written. Or printed. Or said. Especially when they try to sell it. Otherwise we all would be very skinny on Nutrisystem. And we are not. You need to use it and see - when the leaves start getting pale - aha - time to start a regular feeding.

The plant in question doesn't look like it needs to be repotted and the soil it is sitting now is probably no worse than Miracle Gro soil. I think it can grow in it for another 3-6 months. I ordered something from this vendor and their soil is pretty good.

Hibiscusmaniac can contact WIlsons (pjsviolets) - and ask what they recommend. They will tell if soil has a slow release fertilizer and when to start feeding. I emailed them with some question - and I was very impressed at how nice and helpful they were.
