No, you need to move you rod up higher so that the bottoms just graze the top of the floor. The other thing I think is off is the width. I would look for a panels that are 52-54" wide. That way you won't have so much material width wise. Normally, you want the curtains to be double the width of your window.

I can move the rod up, but the curtains ARE double the size of the window. The window is 72“ across the two panels are 72“ each, for a total of 144“. My concern is that you don't get full pleating unless it's even wider. Thoughts?

Anyone else? Really looking for a fix here.

Yes, move the rod up higher.

As Nancy said, the bottom of the drapes should just touch the floor.

The panels are fine. you just need to hang them higher or hem them. They should just be about 1/2" from floor

@susan, should they look evenly pleated even when they are closed? That's my dilemma. When they're open there are these nice "wave" breaks, but when they're closed, like in the picture, they don't look quite right to my eye.

Hi Carey - I would honestly take the rod up much higher. How high is the wall that the curtain is on? It should only be about 6-10" below the ceiling. That may require longer panels. You want to the panels to just touch the floor with an extra 1/2-1". I also feel that the width is too bulky on each panel and agree with Nancy that you want to take the width to 52-54"/panel.

The pleating is fine. Raise them up so they clear the floor by a scant 1/2". Then they will neat and tailored instead of rumpled. And they won't collect dust bunnies when you open and close them.

I notice that you don't have a lot of pattern in what I can see of your room. You might want to consider drapes that echo the steel blue of your other curtains and perhaps have some texture to them. A damask might be nice. Like this:

Once they are shortened, they will hang better. They are so long now that they just look bad, Trust me.

Just an fyi, because these are grommet and you have to close manually, you always have to adjust them, you can't just pull them shut and expect them to hang evenly. Unfortunately, we get lazy and just pull them shut. I hate that :>)

I agree with having the drapes just 'kiss' the floor. Normally the width of the drapes should be 2 - 2/12 times the width of the window, so yours are the right width.

Raise the rod and the curtains will hang much better. You'll see a wave, but it maybe uneven.
