garden pool using pond or lake water

I am planning on building a small garden pool for fish & plants.
I am on a small pond in Maine and want to pump water from the pond into my small pond and have excess water go back into pond. I want to put river rock on the bottom.
Will algae build up on rocks if water is constantly being replaced?

I am going to say that I have been helped in all my issues and questions by Koi smart in Florida. They really know their stuff. I would call and ask.

But in my experience and its much different up north. Alage will always be present but since I added my uv light it has helped
