How big are the pieces you're using? Will the veining line up and/or all flow in the same direction?

Is it more granite-like? It's gorgeous, but really, it's up to you whether you like stronger movement or more wispy veins.

But, all marble is chemically the same. It will stain and etch. Can you live with that? I couldn't. I ended up with LG Viatera Rococo.

I love the look of Carrara marble but the horrified looks I'm getting from people at stone yards when I ask about it is giving me pause.

That's funny - in my area stone yards are consistently sold out of Carrara because it's SO popular. If you've done your research and can live with the etching, I say go for it!

The slab you posted looks very nice, but it does look like marble so would have the same issues as Carrara. In my area Carrara is the most affordable marble, so if you love the look why pay more for another slab that will likely have the same issues?

It looks like what I used in my last kitchen. Love it. Still have a chunk but couldn't fit it in new house. Mine was called (correctly or incorrectly, who knows?) Bardiglio.

It did NOT stain (most marbles I tested don't stain) but did of course etch. Not terribly obvious on that stone if honed though. I looked at EVERYTHING, with no designated budget, and ended up with that. It was cheap. :P

It's beautiful. I love honed carrara and have it on my bathroom vanity. It has a few mystery etches, but not like a kitchen counter. I would consider either of these for my kitchen (currently I have quartz that doesn't have a marble-esque pattern) IF it were honed.

It's gorgeous & looks like etching would not be as obvious.

Kind of looks like Super White to me.

Alley, we priced out Carrara and this slab and they are within $200 of each other.

Megan, The marble you chose is really pretty. But, if you have your heart set on Carrera you shouldn't let the stone companies sway you from it. I have honed Carrera and I absolutely love it. Yes, it has etches, but you have to really spend time looking to find them. When I've tried to point them out to my friends, they look at me like I'm crazy. I say get what makes you happy, not the stone yard.

I like that slab a lot. I typically prefer marble that is predominantly white but this is lovely.

Beautiful. Agree with above comment, looks like "super white." I have honed carrera CT's and am happy with them.

It IS a very pretty slab BUT, ultimately, you are the one paying all the money, you are the one who has to look at it daily long after the KD, fabricators and GW members are gone, what do YOU think?

My honest opinion is that this isn't what you truly want but you are feeling pressured into accepting it and are looking for confirmation that it won't be a mistake.

I personally feel that you should stick to your guns and get what you ACTUALLY want.

With the Carrara, you know what you're getting. With this? It's very pretty but it's a big commitment to something you haven't stain tested or seen in person.

And since you KNOW you want Cararra, get it! White with a smidge of grey is a totally different look from grey with a smidge of white. They are NOT substitutable.

Its frustrating being in a smaller town with limited access to slabs.

I guess I will wait until the slab comes in to see it in person before I decide for sure. I need to get over the guilt of feeling like I need to choose this because they ordered it specifically for us.
