It would help if you included a picture of the room you are referring to. Lighting plays a big part in the mood of a room. If you want a more modern look, recessed lighting is clean and unobtrusive. If you want a more traditional, romantic look a chandelier provides drama and style. Peaked ceiling or not, both lighting will work depending on the look you're after.

The room is under construction so no picture yet. I'm going for modern so I guess all recessed is the way to go.
