That would be pretty. They are extremely heat tolerant, so I read. I have no experience with it, though. I'd never heard of it until now.

I've thought about using them, June, but have not so far. Of course, my usage would be as an annual up here in the north, so maybe that doesn't apply anyway.

Reminds me of wedelia - which only blooms (it seems to me) when well watered.

But... just looked at my plant bearing the card "Monrovia "Magic Carpet TM Mecardonia Annual". It did surprise me by over-wintering well. Looks like new (but no flowers - yet). I had it sitting in water all summer - green but without blooms. I probably got it from the discarded racks at Lowes St Pete (interesting finds there in their parking lot).

June, I think I have the same plant but since I did not keep the label I don't know for sure. It sounds familiar the gold dust part of the name and mine is also a proven winners with lots of tiny yellow blooms. If it is I got it last year full with blooms and kept it in a pot, gets water every day and morning sun afternoon shade, it is starting to bloom again after trimmed it a little bit.

Silvia, I agree. I think your plant is the 'GoldDust'. Your description of "lots of tiny yellow blooms" and the small, low foliage of the pictured plant match.

Mine's in full sun and will NOT get watered daily, unlike the TLC both you and Irma gave yours, so we'll see how drought tolerant it is. - June

Happy with my Mecardonoa "Gold Dust" that over-wintered. Full of blooms. (Sits in water, filtered sun.) But then, everything in my yard is blooming beautifully... maybe the price to be paid is another early and long summer after the non-winter here.

Surprise! I made a detour thru Lowe's Garden Center on my way to paints when what do I see...small pots of mercardonia "Gold Dust". It was early AM so the flowers weren't open and the foliage looked wilted - certainly wouldn't entice someone to try it unless they'd seen it elsewhere and knew what sun and some TLC could do for it.

Added Gold Dust to the edge of my flower bed. I love the continual blooms and bright color. I am having a problem with the plant turning black???? Some of the plants only turned black on the edges while another sort of turned black throughout. Has anyone else had this problem? Can anyone give advice on what to do?
