How about considering a color that complements gray?

Thanks so much! I went to our local paint store and I had no clue how many different shades of gray...now to decide!

Yellow with dark gray trim.

OR - gray with a bright yellow door.

i think having 4 grey houses in a cul de sac would be pretty gloomy.

It's kind of like showing up at prom in the same dress...only worse because you already knew what the other gals were wearing... grey is very trendy now and will be non trendy soon enough. Why not choose something complementary and use grey, if you must, as an accent?

tough choice... you know what you like, but can't exactly get it. not knowing you style/preferences at present, I won't suggest other colours. nothing stops you from copying it, but 'its a free world...' doesn't always result in the best neighbourly or other-ly relationships. there's a long thread on houzz posted by someone who was not pleased at their neighbour copying their house colour. you may want to try to avoid a similar scenario.
how about trying out virtual paint apps/software, to help you decide on other colours. some paint companies provide such things on their websites, and there are apps such as homestyler which do the same. best wishes

We love our color-Oyster Bay SW. Looks kind of blueish, grayish green. Sometimes looks gray...

How about a dark blue? It would look nice among all the grays.

It would help to see the house, how much trim you have etc.

Wow thank you all for the comments. I am new to this and new to home exterior renovations. I was surprised with the comments ( but so happy for people's honesty) that it would be rude for me to copy my neighbors color. I am not copying the same color exactly. But rather staying in the same color range of gray. I am thinking BM Whale Gray and they have a light muted gray. Is that still bad, is it rude? Again I am super new to this and definitely appreciate any comments or suggestions. I will work on uploading a pic of my house. Thanks again.

This my Green house we are painting, We absolutely love Gray
(all shades)--which is our dilemma because of our neighbors' colors (gray). Our
style is very "New England-ish" we live in Rhode Island. We are not very daring when it comes to paint. We are putting on a new roof
(grayish black-i think). I love white trim and black shutters. Any

A great New England touch is a blue door. That will make your house stand out.

I agree it's not a good plan to copy a neighbor's house color. However, I completely understand why you want gray. Maybe something gray-ish but different could be okay. Sounds like the people on your cul de sac are used to another gray house. Would be interested in seeing the other grays on your street,

First question that needs to be answered. Are you replacing the roof?

yes we are replacing the roof:) New roof, windows and exterior paint (landscaping, capping stairs and new hardware etc as well) a whole face-lift!

OK, that info is helpful. I personally like the white house idea. Then go with gray shutters and a door color to suit your personality. If you are set in staying with the gray family, I found this beige/gray combo that might fit in?? click photo to enlarge

That is so funny you posted this pic! I was just researching different colors and came across some wesites that were using the term "Greige" and I am really liking that" combo of gray and beige:) I may go buy some samples soon! Thank you for your input!
