Advice on Shrubs for Barrier

I just moved into my new home in September and now that winter is coming to an end I have finally ripped out the mess of dead limbs and twigs that separated my yard from the neighbors. I am wanting to plant a new barrier and am wanting to use plants that will allow me to see color all year round. I am considering using Camellias in the back, Hydrangeas in the middle, and Mammoth Mums in the front. I don't have any experience with any of these plants and gardening is new to me so I am open to suggestions.
