Fantastic! I just went out into the dark and damp to see if anything was happening across the street, but nary a peep. It's been really warm for two days - I wonder if anyone has heard wood frogs? (sound like ducks quacking).

Heard them tonight, central Connecticut.

Just opened the back door to check and I heard a wood frog. Sounded like a solo quacker.

This is one thing I don't like about living near the sound... no peepers. In my former home, I could hear their songs as I drove up and down my street at night. Wherever there were wetlands, there were peepers.

I've been listening for the wood frogs here in central NH, but no luck yet. The wet area near the house that they frequent still was about half ice-covered as of yesterday morning, but by now there is just a small patch at the shadiest end, so we should be hearing them soon. They usually start here a few days before the peepers, but the nearest wetland the peepers like is still quite icy since it is more shaded, and so it may be a couple of weeks.

Wow! I hadn't even thought about peepers since we're still as icy as NHBabs. Yesterday morning was quite warm when I got up but today it's 23ish. I still feel guilty about not feeding the wood furnace because I don't trust that it's spring yet.

I heard them monday in columbus, ohio. They may have been out even earlier as I hadnt been to my property in a while.

I just went across the street to listen (there's a pond and wetlands down the hill) and I heard tentative, hopeful peeps! Not a chorus yet, but a steady calling.

I guess they don't know about the snow that's forecast for Sunday and Monday.

I heard a few peepers last Sunday, the 13th, but then it got colder here and they have been quiet. Thursday afternoon 3/17 the wood frogs were in full voice and a few more peepers had joined in but most of the peepers were still in hibernation. I'm out of town now, but since snow is predicted, I don't imagine the frogs will be too active until it gets warmer again.

I need to pay better attention. Haven't heard a thing yet and it's already 3/30. The birds are quite noisy and we have some red winged blackbirds eating under the feeders. I pulled an old big rutabaga out of the garden and saw quite a few worms. But, alas, it's going to be only about 12 Monday morning 4/4.

The peepers and wood frogs have both been making a racket nightly since I got home last Thursday, so I imagine you can find some nearby, Defrost.

We'll have to pay better attention. We're right next to a marshy meadow. We should hear them.

I've been checking most nights and it's been pretty quiet after that first tentative peeping on March 18. Temperatures have been low, struggling to get into the upper 40's but today we're starting a warming period. Maybe tonight!

Success! About 4pm 3/31 at the Mobile gas station near I93 exit 17. I'm still not sure about the ones in our yard.

I thought I may have heard just one "peep" last night, but hubby said no, it wasn't :( *in central Maine

NHBabs, I'm about 15 minutes from exit 17. Definitely heard peepers on our property yesterday. I think ours were just slower to wake up. When we drove out my husband thought they were only singing on one side of the driveway but when we came home, definitely had choruses on both sides. Amazing April 1 evening in Concord NH and it was 70 degrees at 7:30 pm.

When I went for a walk around 5 yesterday, the wet area along the field next to the house was loud with peepers. Usually I am mostly aware of them in the borrow pits where gravel was removed for the road, since as I am driving or walking by it is loud enough to be painful. But they were also singing along about 1/4 mile of the field edge, along with wood frogs in the wet area by the house and even some regular green frogs, I think.

The hubby heard them the night before last on a drive into Rutland to get supplies. Rt 7 along the flooded Otter Creek where he heard the chorus is about a week or more ahead of us as far as temperatures go up here on the mountain. Nonetheless I heard a few frogs singing last night when I went out on the back porch. They might have been wood frogs. Usually when the peepers start singing here it is a deafening chorus, but this was just a few solo singers. We're in for a few days of cold weather. After that I expect the spring frogs will be reveling.

Sped, wood frogs quack, so they don't sound like peepers. We had some solitary peepers before they all joined in full voice.

Now with the cold wave, the frogs seem to have gone back to sleep for a few days. Bears are hooting though, so some creatures are undeterred.
