The stem was damaged by Mealybugs over a year ago.

I don't know why it started developing bad leaves right now. I've checked it for bugs many times but it's clean.

If it was my mango plant, then I would throw it away. It got infected with a disease and forming spikes on the branch. Further up where the damage leaves mutated, it looks like it is growing roots.

It looks like my brother had a hand in growing your mango. Lol. He used rooting hormones on his dragon fruit. You are not supposed to use rooting hormones on fruit and vegetables you eat. He put a ton of that stuff on the plant. It threw out a bunch of little branches and the fruit was deform and didn't look edible. He threw that plant in the garbage.

Every mango tree I have has developed an "odd" leaf now and then, still have all 10 of them. I see nothing in any of the pictures that would cause me any concern. I see potential new growth, but def do not see anything that looks like "roots".

Anthracnose can be controlled with a fugal sprays.

Certainly would not throw it away.

No, these brown things are not roots, they are just dried shoots where the leaves were starting to form but they dried off before they were developed. I never used rooting hormones or anything like that.

Right now the plant is forming a few new leaves. They are healthy right now but all other deformed leaves were also healthy this young, but soon they begin to shrivel. I started to water it more often and I really hope that they will stay healthy.

minor nutrient deficiency. try a little epsom salt for magnesium
