We are buying this french-eclectic mid-century mansard home. We would love to add an addition to the back of the home for extra living room/family room space.

Our current idea is to have a two-story addition in the center back (to the left of the steps) with lots of windows because the view overlooks a pretty marsh. Due to the location of the rooms, an addition over the garage (pictured above the steps) would not flow well on the inside.

How do we maintain the home's unique mansard roof style while adding an addition? Any suggestions/ideas?
