If you are willing to replace your countertop you could reconfigure your cabinets. Place an upper and lower cabinet to the left of the picture. Then you could either add more cabinets to fill in the run or just build open shelves. The run a new countertop across everthing.

What's behind the door? How much depth do you have to work with? You could hire a cabinet maker to create a custom built-in to suit your needs. The sky's the limit - a coffee bar, a wine bar, artwork display, a pantry... figure out what you need or want in your kitchen and let that dictate what you do. I like Bespoke's idea but if you can't take away from the room behind the door, you may be able it have a shallow cupboard set into the opening. I once saw something like this and there was enough room to put single glasses on shelves in the space behind the cupboard doors. It displayed cups and glasses really nice and easy to find. A carpenter can help you.
