Marble countertops

We are in the middle of a full remodel and I cannot decide on counter tops. Would love to hear from people whether they love or regret marble. I have two very small children and I want it to be a functional kitchen. I LOVE the look of marble, and don't love the look of silestone, but just want to hear from people whether it is worth it!

You can get a better looking faux marble than Silestone! Try Caesarstone or Cambria or even Stonepeak!

I have marble on my island. I have a large glass cutting board on the section of the island that I use. I mostly use the other counters for actual cooking, etc. The marble looks great after 23 years. Love my marble.

I have two small kids also and in middle of renovating. I installed Caesarstone organic white and sooo wish I would have done marble. I have it on floor upstairs in kids bath and etched it by accident with vinegar and I still love it. Nothing surpasses the beauty of the real thing. To make up for it, all my baths will have loads of marble!! However, I like patina and character but it would have driven my hubby crazy. Now considering a marble backsplash instead! I should note that marble also shows water spots.

I have a polished carrerra marble countertop in my bathroom. it's less than a year old and already etched. I can live with it, but it annoys me. I can't imagine dealing with it in a kitchen where there are more accidents from food!

Marble stains terribly. My high end designer really discouraged me from marble. He said all it will take is wine or red punch to spill and you have a stain. He found out the hard way.
