Can you tell me where this house is located? Also if anyone else out there knows much about Keck & Keck homes I'd love to hear from you. Thanks so much.

This was on one of the Bauhaus & Beyond house tours of Chicago area modernism. It's on Sheridan Road. I don't remember where, but it might be Highland Park. There are a number of Kecks up there. The house backs up to Lake Michigan so it has pretty incredible views out the back. I also seem to remember that this is the one where George Keck had designed an internal courtyard only to have the homeowners poo poo the idea. Consequently, there's a large, ill defined space smack in the middle of the house. Living in an Eichler where atriums are the norm, I say they should have went with it.

Check out the Keck and Keck book by Robert Boyce if you can find it. It has a list of all of their projects. There's an entire subdivision of small homes in Glencoe. Other than the north shore, there are concentrations of Keck & Kecks in Riverwoods and Olympia Fields. I also found a couple in Glen Ellyn and one on Taft Road in Hinsdale.

If you really want to go crazy, there's a video put out by an architect at Hall Associates out of Michigan City, Indiana. Hopefully they've put it out on DVD by now. If you can't find it, the Chicago Public Library has a copy.

I would also like to know where this home is. Additionally, if anyone knows of a website that lists keck homes for sale in the north shore, I would certainly be grateful!

As I mentioned above, the house is on Sheridan Rd, on Lake Michigan. I don't know where exactly, but if you drive north on Sheridan and watch on your right, you'll see it eventually. There's not that many Keck, so they don't come up for sale too often. The ones in Highland Park and Lake Forest are usually very expensive. The ones in Olympia Fields are bargains.
