Soundproofing plastered brick party wall

This might be a topic discussed already in another forum, so please forgive... I own an old townhouse built in 1922. I share a plastered brick wall (two layers) with only one unit and wanted to sound proof it. My plan was to screw a half inch layer of foam board insulation to the plaster, then screw in 5/8 sheet rock on top of that (taped and sealed obviously).

My question: will this actually work? Has anyone done this before and have any pointers? I'd love to hear anyone's suggestions on soundproofing brick walls. Thanks!
