We would like to install some cabinetry along our front entry stairway - this will effectively be our "mudroom" type storage for a family with little kids - bookbags, hats, mittens, boots, bicycle helmets, etc. I was thinking maybe we could buy several kitchen cabinets and line them up next to each other, but if we did that, is there any way to buy a top that would match, or would we have to go with a non-matching countertop (like in the photo below)? If possible, I'd like the top to match - like the blue sideboard in the photo below, although in stained wood rather than painted. Or any other cost-effective ideas for customized storage like this (we want to make maximum use of our very small space)?
