I don't have it myself but my neighbouring allotmenteer does and and I've seen it many times. It does spread but it can be kept in bounds by vigilance and pulling. I recently visited a historic house and they use soapwort there to this day to clean very delicate ancient fabrics.

As floral said, soapwort is a pretty aggressive grower (self sows prodigiously!) but pulls out easily if it spreads beyond where you want it. It grows wild here in central Ohio. If you plan on using the plant regularly, though, you will probably want a fairly sizeable patch of it. One site states that "The simplest way to use soapwort is to boil the leaves and stalks in water, and strain. You will need about a cup of fresh soapwort leaves (half a cup of dried) to a pint of water. The resulting liquid is a valuable wash for expensive fabrics."

I have for tea, have had NO problems with them.

Grew skullcap some years ago at our previous home. Have seeds now but have not tried to start it yet.

Motherwort is another very aggressive plant. I have some in a back corner of the yard but keep an eye on it. I always try to remember to cut back the flowering stems before they set seed. Also, those dry stalks are very prickly and painful to handle! For anyone in the Columbus area who wants to gather some from the wild, motherwort grows very abundantly along the drives through Berliner ball park located just south of Columbus. I have seen sweet Annie naturalized there, too. (I go walking & foraging while hubby plays softball!)

Oh - but if you go there and step off into the high grass along the road, wear protection against chiggers!! They are voracious!
