Kid friendly coffee table ideas

Looking for pretty yet kid friendly coffee table ideas for our family room. We are thinking tufted ottoman but wondering if it would too much upholstery for the room. If we do go for tufted ottoman - would beige be too much beige? If not an ottoman, any other ideas?

This is our family room and we will be using the space extensively for watching TV and lounging. We have a toddler whom we don't want to keep away from this room. The sofas though light in color are upholstered in outdoor fabric which is bleach- able and washable

Anything but an ottoman. I have a five year old and he leaps all over it (which drives me nuts and he's asked to stop but what can you do, it happens) we have no place to set our drinks and not worry about them being spilled. We recently moved and prior our furniture was used differently at our old house so our more used living area had a coffee table. I miss that set up and can't wait to get a new sectional with no ottoman so I can have my coffee table back.

When my kids were young we had a wooden coffee table in front of the couch that was very simple in design, just a longish rectangle shape, but my kids could pull up kid size chairs and use the table like a desk. We had two nice wooden kid size chairs that tucked in nicely under the table and they used the space for coloring, legos, etc. It was very practical and actually looked nice too. I sure do miss those days.

I would try a leather ottoman or a fun fabric. No beige! That tends to be too boring. Just make sure the fabric on the ottoman flows well with the rug.
