I have a similar pink brick ranch style house. Currently the trim is painted a dark maroonish-brown, similar to the Rookwood Dark Red that the computer matched to your brick.

Which I really dislike, it is too dark and has now faded. I am thinking about painting the trim a light taupey-gray to match the grout - your grout looks a bit more gray so perhaps you could work with that?

It is hard since no one uses pink brick any longer and there aren't a lot of inspiration photos.

gustaviatex -- you are right abt the brick color - I've been thinking abt it for 3 years and still cannot come up with anything. There is a house in my area with the same brick and they used a maroon color, which I guess 'matches' in a way, but I also don't like it at all. Boring. It seems that they greenish grey, or taupe is the way to go from your comments and others. I think I could be happy with that.

We have some of the same photos in our ideabooks. I love the gray/lime green combination but it just isn't going to go with the brick we have. The pastel blue doors are lovely but just not me. I am thinking now of the pinky-beige-gray (warm gray) trim and a plum colored door. And lots of lime green and purple in the landscaping.

I have seen a lot of photos where a blue shade is used, but like you I am not a fan of blues for exterior color.

Not sure of the overall 'pink' of your house but here are a few houses and different paint. Also missed the color of the roof? That will affect the finish look.

You want to test some warm grays in the camoflauge / brown green direction. BM desert twilight is a good one and you can branch around from there. Also test the non-green warm grays .. bm copley gray .. bm taos taupe sorts of shades .. Since your brick is light, you can go to a mid tone warm gray .. .lrv in the 30's or so and still get contrast . . then you can always do something dramatic at the front door that doesn't involve color - - a warm black is a amazing - (as many shades of black as white - so you want one that is like bm black bean soup - dark enough to read black against hte brick, but warm and rich . .

Susie, I do like the idea of picking up the color of the mortar for the shutters -- they are a strange shape, but I don't know if there is even brick behind them. They are recessed back from the brick surface. Strange construction....but painting them the same color as the mortar will make them 'disappear,' which cant be a bad thing.

I actually have thought abt painting the entire house, but thought to give a try to start out with changing out the trim and then decide. Three sides of the house are brick. I've also looked into using SW's MCM colors (house was built in '75, just missing that era actually), but I think since it is a modest house, it might just look frumpy.

Love your color selections Janet. Painting the gate the same as the front door would make it look so European! Can you tell me what windows you used- they look new. Are they replacement or new construction?
