Start with the white...cloud white then build the other colors around that choice

I've used cloud white before and find it's too much of an off-white and has yellow in it. I really want a clean white. Trying to decide between chantilly lace, oxford white, or snowfall white....any other suggestions for a pure white?

Benjamin Moore has some nice grey colour suggestions that go well with the Oxford White. Perhaps you'll like those too.

Benjamin Moore's Ultra white is a bright white that is very crisp but it is a bit on the cool side. Fence Post from Para Paints is another nice trim white and is a bit warmer without being yellow. Most importantly though is remember whites change according to the light and the colours around them so bring lots of samples home to view them in the different areas you're painting.

Thanks! How about just using the white that comes ready made before you mix colours? So, instead of picking a specific white just buy the gallon of white that is ready made? Is that a nice pure white? Anyone used that?

maria110, Many paint manufacturers and stores have ready mixed whites...plural...on their shelves. An untinted base is "white"...sort of. Every color takes one of three or four tinting bases, light, medium, deep or extra/ultra deep, and each has as many as five sheens available. Specifying a paint color determines the base, then specifying the sheen determines the formula. Using base for finished paint is maybe not such a good idea....buying the exact same paint and getting it right for touch up would be hit or miss.

I am building a house, and want earthtones...trying to go with more greys than tan. and love the house in am in has antique white, but has a yellow tint to it, any suggestions I will be using Sherman Williams paints.
