Oh noooo!!! Dave help!

After processing my kraut, I cleaned and dried my fermentation pot. I left the stones out to dry fully, or so I thought. I then put the stones back in the pot and put the cover on, leaving it on my counter. Well, I noticed an odor that wasn't there before and it was pretty ripe. I opened the pot and there is mold growing on the stones!!!! What can I do to salvage them or are they ruined? Lori

No not ruined. Just soak them for a few hours - or even over night - in a 10% bleach solution. Scrub if needed and then rinse well and let them air dry for several days out on the counter and in the sun. It really takes them days to fully dry since they are so porous. Best to store them outside of the crock if possible.
