I was under the impression that butterfly and bookmatch are the same, in relation to countertop seams. We'd probably need to know the location of the seam on the island, and need to see a pic of your slab to help you decide.

Thank you for the input! I went to the slab yard today and realized that my counter is only 7" too long to fit one slab, so I was thinking I could just do butcher block on one end near my prep sink and avoid the stone seam altogether. What do you think about doing that?

I like butcher block, mixed with stone on an island. Will that leave enough prep space on both sides of the prep sink?

I'd shorten the island by 7", but if that's not possible, yes, I'd combine the stone and wood (actually, I love the combination - but I designed my own island to accommodate the largest single length of quartz, rather than the other way around).

I too would've shortened by 7" if I knew that's what we were going to run into! The island is already made, so now we just have to make it work.

I see in the pictures that the butcher block is a different height than the solid surface, why is that? Can you help me decide if it should be the same, higher or lower? The metroquartz is 3cm.
