bedroom flooring

I'm remodeling our master and am buying new furniture from Room & Board which is very modern. The adjoining hall is red oak wood flooring, however, it is not in the budget to take it into the bedroom. One of my goals in redoing the master is to get rid of the carpet so I don't have to worry about keeping carpet clean. The vanity area will have a white (or possibly gray) vanity with subway tile back splash. We are not sure if we should go with a more modern looking tile like a concrete look or more traditional beige tile like a travertine or limestone. We do want to do a 12x24 and whatever we do, will be a thin groutline. Any suggestions? Every picture I see of furniture like this has wood and if we did wood, the furniture wouldn't happen.
