Most plants will be killed by the salts in softened water. Some quickly, some slowly. The exception are some coastal plants which require alkaline soil and have salt-tolerant leaves and stems. Strawberries like soil with a pH of about 6.0, neutral to slightly acidic.

Ideally your garden hose will draw from your incoming water supply before the water goes through your softening system.

Good luck with it; there is nothing like a strawberry warm from the garden sunshine... if you can stay a step ahead of the birds!
