Is that just for material, or including fabrication and installation?

That is for everything, the granite, fabrication, installation, also includes a 3 inch backsplash and a large bowl stainless undermount sink.

Sounds reasonable to me. $65/sf installed. Plus free sink?

Sounds reasonable. Tell them "no" on the 3" backsplash which is dated and unnecessary.

I also would be leery of the "free" sink. Did you want one-bowl sink or two-bowl? What size sink? Rectangular or D-shaped? What gauge is it (20-gauge is too thin, and you can find thicker 16-gauge sinks for not too much of an expenditure). Did you even want stainless steel, or would you like to consider other materials like Silgranit or enameled cast iron? Usually the free sink does not allow a choice.

We paid about $60 per square foot for Viscont White installed back in November. We provided our own sink. We were short of material and had to seek out a remnant and the fabricator we found with leftover Viscont was running a sale on Viscont White (aka Silver Cloud) at $45 per square foot installed.

I don't know how the granite guys stay in business at those rates. I've charged more than that to change a sink.

If the fabricator is reputable and does good work, that is a great price. If he has wide chipped seams, inconsistent reveals in the sinks, and drops a piece and dents your floor without even a "sorry", then even half the price you were quoted still makes it a bad deal.

Prices must be different in my neck of the woods. I did a 94 sq. ft. of Astoria granite for a kitchen remodel in my primary home for $4600 cash last year. No backsplash and no sink. They did an excellent job and it is truly stunning. That is why I was asking about this new quote. For a lot less granite in my beach house the per square foot price seems high. Glad to hear it is not. Thanks all!
