pendant/track lighting suspended 12" from ceiling

I am seeking pendant lights for over my kitchen island that the rail is dropped down from the ceiling 12" to clear the beams. need to replace existing florescent lights, and get light to areas currently unlit. our ceiling does not have space between upstairs and wood paneled ceiling to run wires. suggestions?
