Here's an idea for how to make it disappear! Pull the darkest color from the stone and paint the walls AND trim the same dark color. Then I would pull the lightest color from the stone and paint all the wood in your mantel (matte, not gloss!). If that is a fake plant, replace it with art pieces you can lean on the mantel or interesting pottery pieces (nothing smaller than a canteloupe). Have fun!

Also add inside mount roller shades to the rectangle window to match the above mentioned dark wall color.

This will truly make the fireplace your focal point.
