Really cute house.

Consider how much work you want to put into maintaining whatever landscaping you might do. Ask yourself if you need the tall bush on the left for privacy for your side yard and /or could you at least trim it level on top and still accomplish that.

A single row of similar sized or equally trimmed shrubs across the front would look neater than what's there. If those are rose bushes you want to keep, you might consider a row of several fan trellises perhaps one for each bush.

I prefer flowering shrubs to ground flower gardens. You can add plants that bloom throughout the growing season via flower pots, including hanging baskets on brackets which can be hung on treated posts in the yard or from eye hooks attached above your porch railing. If the windows have a header, as they should, you can add brackets centered above each window and bring the hanging baskets indoors during winter.

A single, very plain concrete bird bath can add interest to any yard and the birds reward you with entertainment and song. You can paint the outside if you choose but it's not necessary.

I really like the idea of the flowering shrubs vs flower garden, as I am not a maintenance landscaper, just ambitious to start haha.

Eventually I plan on expanding the attic into a master suite with adormer out the back. But a new kitchen and bath a priorities right now.

I'll keep it simpl landscape wjse, but what I'm really confused on what to do is with the home itself to spruce it up. A nice door with some color to it, a porch swing and a small two seat set for coffee sitting ams. Any other glaring ways to make the from of the house more appealing?

I really like the bullseye red door. The porch may be our favorite feature, every house on the street has a nice porch, so afternoons all the neighbors are out.

I'd go for a small cafe table with two chairs . . . encourages conversation while sipping coffee or a glass of wine. A large pot with shade loving plants (possible raised) to the right of the door would be welcoming. Another pot sitting on the column on the left side of the stairs. A couple of hanging plants would be good, too, but only if you'll remember to water them. A great door mat to coordinate with your newly painted door. A new light fixture and mailbox if you need them. Can you live without the storm door? Love your front porch!

Rocking chairs or Adirondack, but put four out. You'll need them for neighbors dropping over.
