As a contractor we highly recommend the TimberTech product to our homeowners. That being said we have done plenty of work with the Terrain Collection ( Silver Maple ) as well as the Legacy Collection ( Ashwood ). Both are great products and we work with them both on a regular basis.

We have yet to have any issues with strength due to the scalloped profile. The deck board is still held to the same strength requirements of the solid boards and still meats all code requirements. With all that being said the Silver Maple is a great, cost effective choose that will last you for years!

Thank you for the info. I'm assuming the solid edge Terrain Collection boards are solid throughout and not scalloped bottom, correct? Going to use the solid edge for edge profiles and stair treads.

Your very welcome. No, the solid edge boards in the terrain collection are still scalloped on the bottom. The only way you could avoid seeing that scalloped edge is if you do what is called a picture frame boarder. This is basically a perimeter board that runs with the outside edge of the deck and hides all the cut ends.

Hi there, I am interested in the Timbertech Terrain but my deck is giant so cost is huge factor for me, and I'm being recommended Trex Basic as its cheaper. Any thoughts on quality between the two?
