Have you considered Kelly green. It is as bright as say a red front door, but much less expected.

How about black . As far as I can see the house is grey. Or you can be off the wall and do like a lime green or a version of that would look good.

The house is blue actually, it's hard to see in the photo I know, and I'm happy with the green suggestions, that's what I was leaning towards, just wasn't sure if I was on the right track or not.

And the garage?

What is the actual paint color and by what company of the house now.

I say, leave the garage door white. Then the door will POP when you paint it your favorite color. I don't think you can go wrong with a color that makes you happy to look at every day.

I believe the siding color is called Annapolis blue.

Red! All the way! Then incorporate the red with plantings that bloom red... Wow! Great house. Great lines. Great curb appeal... A nice bright red would just pop! But would soften it with the red plantings leading the eye to the front door... just my opinion. Good luck! Let us know what you decide.

Congratulations! Gorgeous House! Do not paint the garage door for this style of home. It is great and will last longer this way.

Bright Yellow is a more conventional, yet still sparkling, option - it will still work with your brick. The right color of red could work - more of a cherry tomato red than a traditional ralph lauren red.

Landscape -
try to add masses of matching shrubs that flower at different times - least amount of work, most attractive. Near the front edge under the porch above, plant some flowering bushes in a row - probably three - look for a mature size around 4'- 6' so they visually fill that opening, but you can still get behind from the side. If right for your zone, Abelia Grandiflora would be the kind of thing to look for. Extend these to cover downspout (get a concrete block for that to hit / paint it dark gray once it reaches the floor of the porch.

In front of the retaining wall, plant a smaller (mature height 2') in a variegated or yellow green foliage - from left to right and just one back from the corner. Contrast the foliage of the other (suggested bronze over there). Put a pair of galvinized metal bucket or small bushel on the outside of the bottom of the steps (symmetrical). Fill these with soil and plant trailing geraniums.

Stain the new steps and deck in a gray to match the house. I would stain rails too but some more cottage-y folks would like them white. Since you have to look through them, I say, the darker the better so they will fall away from the eye from the living room bay window.

Look for some masonry stain in charcoal and spray out the landscape retaining wall so it has a darker color than the house and "visually grounds" it.

Regarding landscape...please place foundation plantings to cover the timber framing of the deck. It appears the columns have "stone" bases landing on much smaller timber posts. Logically incongurous. Heavy on top of light. Perhaps when settled in you will consider creating a "stone" base for the deck and columns so that the weight implied by the stone goes to ground? Or just use the plants! I like red twig dogwood for year round interest and color.

Red will take you in a country direction and green will be more transitional.

It's a really beautiful home. I would not choose red as it looks like a flag..way toooo cute. I would probably choose a lighter shade of the siding..a light blue gray. I would paint consider painting the garage door the same in this instance. ok look up vienna green 538 its a benjamin moore color i think it would look great.As for red i see it more suburb not country a classic door color i see red as a done color, every where you go you see one.I say this if you do choose red go with rembrandt red in a high gloss this would make you not look at the color but the finish(Grand entrance from Benjamin moore if your intrested in the high gloss idea).With the green color do it in satin let the color do the work.

I was just looking at the questions for a dining room photo that is going to be the inspiration for my dining room. When asked about color the designer said to use a color wheel. Never thought about getting scientific about color. I looked up your Annapolis blue. I have beeen jotting down notes, everyone has been a huge help,! I'm leaning towards bright green, however I do love that aqua blue that tinglesgirrl just posted a picture of !,
I will be staining the deck a darker grey shade for sure!
As well as Shrubs inftont of the retaining wall, as someone suggested will be done aswell, didn't think of that.
