Maybe paint your shutters & door black if you don't want to spend $ on a new door? I do agree, black with cross hatch looks really good

First off I want to say I love your house. Okay so, why buy another door in the same style when you can enhance your home by updating the trim color, painting the shutters, and changing the light fixtures to a nicer finish and a style that speaks volume to the home. Now when I say volume I don't mean the size of it but that gives it the character you want and matches he style

Alonda can you send me some examples of what your talking about? The door I have is too narrow, I like French doors better. I am going to change the trim colors and shutters but I don't know what color yet. Any ideas would be appreciated.

This is my favorite for your house and this "read" from Sherwin Williams picks up the darker color from your brick as Thunder Gray, which would be nice for trim. If it is too dark for your taste, look at some of the other shades on that same color strip card for a lighter version of it. I think the board and batten shutters are too country looking for your home's stately style and are not necessary at all, especially at the window above the porch where they could obviously never function properly to cover the glass and protect it from the elements. If the left side of the house feels a bit naked without them, I would install a trellis with a climbing rose and clematis between those two windows.

Absolutely, without a doubt, black! I loved #1 the best, but #3 us best for your house style. Just my opinion. Beautiful home!

Curb appeal is very much more than door style. Curb appeal is all about the overall look of your house, door style is just a personal choice.

Ditto on the 4th door. I assume you are going to paint the shutters and trim a different color? Right now your house is too monotone IMO. There are so many fab color combinations out there that can really give your house some panache! I would choose a door color and then a complementary but different color for the shutters and trim.

Yes, Rapp, I know the definition of curb appeal. I'm planning a complete overhaul, the door is just a start. I have another thread talking about trim colors. I'm going to have a paint specialist help me choose a trim color that will be best for the style of the house. I'll post pics when done.

Of those you've posted, I'd prefer the wood door with black diagonals in the windows that go well with the black railing while looking good with the red brick and not totally clashing with the shutters. If you choose the totally painted black door, consider painting your shutters and porch posts and trim either black, too or a creamy white not unlike the detail above the windows.

Yes! Much in keeping with the style of the home. I know people like the little diamonds, but they really are more of a Tudor thing, which your home is not!

Yes, I liked the diamonds but the Designer told me the same thing. I can't wait once to choose a paint the trim and shutters.

I'm confused by "curb appeal I need" -- are you selling? Otherwise, it's just whatever look you like. I think you've chosen a good door, and I agree with painting the shutters to give much better contrast with the stone. I think I'd remove the one set from the top floor and paint all remaining, as well as house trim, a dark charcoal -- not as dark as the door, but enough to add some drama to the house and windows.

Great house. Agree with acm, the one set of shutters on the second story should go. Post pics of your "after" with the new door.

I can't wait to see what the color specialist suggest about the trim color. I'm open to removing the shutters on the second level but I'm concerned about balance. Can someone show me my home with these changes?
