This is really a question for a local architect and structural engineer. You want to make sure that you have properly designed guard rails and that the extra weight on the roof will not collapse your building........The architect can also help you select the best topping for over the concrete.

We agree with Lampert Dias Architects, Inc., it's best to always check with a structural engineer to ensure the roof can support the load of adding people and tiles up there.

Once you know it can handle a lot of weight, make a choice based on what look and appearance you want on the roof. We carry a variety of exotic hardwood deck tiles to lay right over concrete or a flat surface. Lot's of people use them for roof decks balconies, or to renovate an old drab concrete patio.
