Out of respect to the building and mindful of the ease with which this could end up a wood-toned overload - would you consider either white or pale gray floors? The right gray will tone down the brown whereas white could be pretty dang cool with your white Quartz. But the Quartz will need the right white or gray to work well, and it needs to PU the background color of the stone. Can you post your chosen kitchen, as well as more interior shots of the room spaces in question? Are you in the type of climate where tile would work, or does it get a decent winter? I would look at a combo of tile(or Marmoleum) in conjunction with sisal type carpet. There are some pretty interesting modular carpet systems that would really suit a home such as yours.

Which room needs flooring? What is under the carpet?

Gray slate or porcelain tile would compliment the wood and glass. You could extend the same tile onto the patio to further enhance the indoor/outdoor nature of the architecture. Cork floors are an authentic material for this era of house but if you use cork I recommend newer cork options in lighter colors.

love all your suggestions.. i wish i could afford the terrazzo.. but that isn't in the budget and being that I am in Michigan, brrrr snowed on Saturday, slate/porcelain are not reality either. I think Rusty Empire is on the right track with the gray or white, I am thinking a very light cork or oak flooring.. here are my inspiration kitchens... and some interior shots of my current kitchen the reno has not started quite yet, trying to get materials in line! No to the new oak it does not suit this house I would consider walnut but there is so much of it I guess a soft gray would look good but I think I would check out marmoleum and see if you could do a really interesting pattern or check out Mannington adura rectangles might be great with the walnut

I also wouldn't add more wood to the space. Notice your current setup also doesn't have wood flooring. I think the original builders knew not to "overwood" the space.
