Home Depot Flooring Installation Nightmare

Has anyone else ever had issues with having laminate flooring installed by their installation company USIG? If so, I would love to hear about it, & how it was remedied.

Home Depot contracts out to individual installers dependent on town, and local HD Manager. The Home Depot at one of the Richmond BC stores will use a DIFFERENT subcontractor than another Home Depot that is 5 km away (Richmond BC location). I would question whether or not USIG was a "Home Depot" owned company. I would guess that they were contracted out by the local Home Depot to install the laminate.

When it comes to installation errors, it is ultimately the problem of the people who did the work (or their employees). Start with the Home Depot where you purchased the service and start complaining. Getting HD to return phone calls has been a nightmare (according to all the horror stories about kitchen installations) but "boots in the store" seems to ALWAYS get good results.

Start taking photos and take those photos to your HD where you purchased the floor/install. Keep doing that until you get someone out to your house. Please be aware that you may have to show up 3-7 times (inside of 2-3 week period) before you get someone to take you seriously, but I believe this is the best method.

I'm sorry you have had an issue. Keep doing your best. Emails and phone calls are inefficient with these big chains. You MUST be standing there, in front of a human being at the Customer Service Counter, to get ANY attention. Just keep popping in several times a week until you get someone to go to your home to view the issues.

Meanwhile, try posting photos here about what the problem is.

Twelve years ago, we bought wall-to-wall carpeting from Home Depot for our second level. Home Depot sub-contracted out
the installation, and two years later our beautiful broadloom had hills and valleys throughout the hallway and all four bedrooms.
Home Depot would not take responsibility for the installation
after one year, and having the carpeting stretched was only a
temporary fix. Now we have to replace the beautiful and
expensive carpeting.

Having carpet restretched after a year or two of installation as it relaxes isn't abnormal at all. Especially for soft backed carpet. Read the manufacturers's fine print. It tells you this.

That may be true, however the number of seams required to tighten the carpet are numerous and in obvious places. Even after the stretching, we again have hills in every room, many near the baseboards. I'm no flooring professional, but I DO know the result of a quality installation should NOT look like this!
