Need help decorating a big white brick wall

We need some ideas to decorate this big fireplace wall in the living room. It is pretty old so it is not safe to drill and hang anything very heavy on it. We never use the fireplace so I'm thinking to decorate it as a photo gallery wall? Or maybe decorate with wreath and life plants? Please share your ideas on what I should do with it. Thanks!

I think you could add some lovely accent colour in cushions on the hearth and I'd fill the cavity with logs. A photo wall could be cool. I'd like to have seen it broken with a shelf but assume you are certain it can't be drilled into. Whatever you do it would be nice to see the vents covered too!

Michigan60 photo wood mantle does the trick nicely (could you attach it somehow?) birch logs in the fireplace, a couple cushions and a special sculpture to one side.

If you search 'unused hearth' in here there is one with 2 baskets holding throws on a white hearth which looks cool too. Sorry I can't attach pic

I would maybe at least lean something in timber up against one side of it, like a old ladder or even a couple of cool beams or something to add warmth and texture

You could hang something from the ceiling to give some warmth to the upper portion visually like a cool lantern in wood or two

I think most mantels will require drilling into brick and can be a bit heavy.
