We have a kitchenaid counter depth, french doors..We've had it for 9 years and we had two problems with it in this entire time. It stopped cooling and then it worked again the second day,,,apparently there was some ice on the fan (that's what we read) and after the ice was gone, everything went back to normal. I don't know why that happened. Recently the water dispenser wasn't working properly anymore. We had to change the water filter head. It was not difficult to replace, just a bit inconvenient to get the fridge out of its place

I have had a kitchen aid counter depth for almost 10 years. Stainless steel, freezer on the bottom. I love it and it has served us well. I have no idea what they go for now. My guess is between 2500-2900.

I did have a problem just recently as well. The filtered water stopped working and the control buttons stopped working but the frig has never stopped and that was at year 9. Both were quick fixes, that if I didn't have a home warranty I could have ordered and done myself.

Ok thanks. I wonder if the preponderance of negative comments over kitchenaid (1.6 stars out of 5 on amazon, for instance) is just because most happy people don't take to the internet to comment?

HI -- I have a Samsung with bottom freezer and auto ice maker and it is a counter depth in the finger print free platinum finish ... I love it . But not all counter depths are truly counter depth . They still stick out about three inches . They have to for door function .

i believe so chance... and also the more you spend the more unhappy you are with superficial issues. its always good to ignore the stars and just read the reviews, a lot of people have displeasure over issues that wont matter to you.

I've had an LG French door counter depth fridge for nearly 10 yrs. Overall have been happy, although we have had issues with plastic fruit/veggie drawers breaking. I think you need to look at the configuration of the fridges, drawers/shelving/location of ice maker and water dispenser, etc and figure out what will work for the kind of use you will give it.

true, always look at the number of reviews as well..I do that with all the reviews..simple math calculation:) There is no perfect appliance (sub-zero is very pricey and lately, there have been a lot of complaints about it..apparently they are not what they used to be).
