That is called a multibranch tree - totally normal, they shouldn't be torn apart now. Better in groupings than not for natural look when complete . . these at mature height will get very tall - instead of even spacing, find another shrub instead of tree .. .evergreen is fine depending on your zone but flowering if possible - something that matures at about 7' height and plant those instead in odd numbered groupings in a zig zag row between what you have . .

Add a large decorative / sit boulder in front of the massing in the corner .. .down the sides of the yard . . don't plant the perimeter except to encourage something like native honeysuckle vine on one side and try a pretty / colorful lacey sort of bronze foliage tree at the mid point in the yard near the other side . . call it done other than planting near the house . .
