I have this 8x4 raised bed that has 3 tomato plants, 3 basil plants, parsley, lettuce, a row of swiss chard, a row of walla walla onion, a row of garlic, a row of carrots and still has more room to plant more in the bed.

any reason for pots instead of directly in dirt filling in the bed??

From the photo I think the pots are just set on the outside edge of the bed. The inside looks filled with soil.

Yes this raised bed is 3 feet deep with soil. I grow seedlings in pots around the bed. Here is another pic of my other seedlings that I will be transplanting soon in a 3 foot wall that gets full sun. On the left along the wall are all my container berries, 2 raised beds with onion , garlic cauliflower and broccoli .

This is my 3rd season. I planted the onion , garlic and carrots in winter and they will be harvested next month. Then I'll rotate different types of lettuce that do well in the heat . Next year no tomatoes but hot peppers in place of tomato

Yes, I'd watch out about planting many tomatoes in a bed that size with many other crops - tomatoes take up a lot of room.......as do cucurbits.

Nick your garden area is wonderful!!! The raised beds, the pots, the nice seating area. Definitely a place to spend quality time.

So if I wanted to plant tomatoes peppers and basil in a 6x4 raised bed could I do two of each, how about zucchini as well??
