My kitchen has refaced cabinets, probably done in the 60's or 70's. It's a small galley kitchen, so defining a new lay-out really isn't necessary; it "is" what it "is". What is the easiest and least expensive option for changing the look of the cabines? They are a dark brown, almost black, and some of the laminate has cracked and there are a few pieces missing. Is there a method of painting laminate?
