A solar shade will let you see out but cut the heat and the glare

You could also put up blinds. Like you, my kitchen window is positioned between wall cabinets and there is just enough room for blinds. If you do not want a solar shade or blinds, your other option is Roman shades.

For this window, I would suggest a faux wood blind. It would look great next to your cabinets, and would provide the light control that you need. Faux wood is very easy to keep clean, and that would be important with this being above the cook-top.
