First time Amaryllis...

So this is the first time I have ever had this type of plant and I know that it needs to go into dormancy at times. Sadly after it bloomed a few weeks ago I cut off all the leaves, thinking it was that time. Now the bulb is shriveled and I am trying to get it to fatten up. I have it under a lamp for sunlight and am keeping it warm in hopes that it will grow new leaves. Is there anything else that I can do? I've noticed that where I cut the leaves, it is turning red along with the outer layer of the bulb. Can it be saved?
