We have wood floor in the entire house. We had it installed a few months after we moved in,,the kids at the time were 3 and 6. There have never been any problems with the floor. We just needed to be careful with the furniture and any sharp corners.

Luxury vinyl planks if you are in a cooler climate. Porcelain/ceramic tiles in a hotter climate. Both have massive benefits.

Sadly both are loud...but there isn't much you can do about that other than use some large area rugs.

If you use vinyl planks, won't they scuff up?

I do agree with Cancork Floors about both products, I installed a porcelain tile in our entire down stairs level of our home, bedroom, laundry room, bathroom, bar, great room and with a walk out to pool, its amazing, we now have a 13 and 8 year old and with tons of friends and a dog, and no problems at all. Upstairs we did Armstrong Ameri-scrape Hickory Floor, and again have had no problem, Love both the choices.

I completely agree with the comment above. Armstrong makes really great, durable products that look amazing!

There is a flooring called vinyl cork very quiet to walk on easy on the legs and back and it has been impossible for my 2 big dogs to do any damage in yrs.
