I'm not sure I'd go with a cream color. Would you consider a light blue instead?

If you cannot find a clear cream shade, I would suggest you look for a soft white on the walls and snow white for the trim. It looks as if the kitchen does not have many windows, and the two whites will maximize what light there is.

i considered a light blue but theres no easy stopping point and didnt want to paint the whole house that color since we're selling it soon. I was hoping to recreate the color of plaster walls (richer, not so white) since the house is mediterranean in style. but no luck so far :(

thank you! yes the kitchen has no windows but opposite to it is the kitchen nook and family. That entire wall of the house is windows but for some reason the sun never really shines in. Its all open huge windows but the orientation of the house, I think NW makes these rooms always look shaded and murky. I will try your suggestions. Thanks!

If it is a ranch, you could drop in skylights but probably not, right?

It is a one story home so theoretically it could be done. That would be awesome, maybe even where that weird little coffer is! I'll have to see what that might cost but it would probably solve all the weird color issues in those rooms.

Hang pendents over island where the light is in ceiling. Add a scones around arch.

We have a lot of skylights and now I can't live without them! hahhaha

I've seen a large skylight completely change a room. If selling, keep the color light and neutral.
