Still good enough to grow new ones from cuttings! Definitely do not throw it. Take the thin ones out, from the base. If you don't like the long trailing branches, you can let the new green shoots (at the base) take their place. I see few branches on the right side with new side-buds emerging, meaning you can safely cut the top above them. The shoots will grow and fill the empty space. If you want to keep a branch and let side-shoots emerge, make sure you can see the buds before you cut the top. Sometimes a "blind" branch (with no buds) is what you get and the whole branch dies.

Oh it would be such a shame to throw it away. They can look a bit unique after wintering over, but their grow out is very impressive. You have inspired me to start wintering them again. It is such fun.

Pels dont need any winter treatment other than bringing them indoors. They dont like frost true but mine continue to grow thru the winter in the house. I cut them back hard mid winter and watch them grow back.
