Color Catcher question

Being the hoarder that I am, I have a huge stack of used Color Catchers. At one time I had planned on using them for foundation piecing a string quilt, but read somewhere (can't remember where) they shouldn't be used for quilting. Does anyone know if this is true or not?

Do you know why they shouldn't be used? They seem a little heavy to use as foundations; might make the quilt stiff.

My only concern would be that the dye that was caught might get loose again.

I haven't heard/read that they shouldn't be used. Would they be too heavy for long-arm quilting?

I've recycled used dryer sheets for foundation piecing, but I would be hesitant to use Color Catchers due to any chemicals that might be in them and yes, any dye they "caught" releasing in future washings of a quilt. Read the box and see if there is any mention of only one use per sheet.
